 “Take me to the emergency room.”

I said this to my husband on a Sunday afternoon in March of 2009.

I had chest pains that would not subside.  I was only 47, but I had already been taking high blood pressure medication for a couple of years.  I weighed about 200 pounds and was pre-diabetic. 

I was a busy teacher and years of stress took a toll.

This didn’t sneak up on me.  I knew I needed to change years before.

I followed several eating programs on my own – always with the same result.  Some weight loss at first, but those programs were not designed to be done indefinitely.

I always gained weight back, plus more.  Thought I time  and I’d figure it out later – when life was less busy.

But after that ER visit, I realized it was “later” had become NOW.  I was determined to find a different way to live healthier.

My big “a-ha” moment was when I realized I was focused on the wrong things.

When I focused on the scale, I failed.

When I tried to do it without guidance, I failed.

When my mindset changed, the results changed.

It wasn’t working to be hyper-focused on losing weight.  I needed to be healthier.

I didn’t need a diet. I needed to be smarter about food.  I needed to learn how to eat.

I was a teacher and I knew I needed a teacher to learn how to organize how I ate to support my goals.

Knowing what I wanted to learn, I found the right coach to teach me. I started with a nutrition coach who introduced me to clean eating.

Later, through bodybuilding, I found a coach who taught me about flexible dieting and macros.

  • I learned why my body needed each of the 3 macronutrients – protein, carbohydrates, and fats.
  • I was taught how to balance my diet based on how my body was responding.
  • I learned how to adjust my macros to cause fat-loss or muscle-gain.
  • I learned how to make short term adjustments in response to stress or illness so I could stay on track.
  • I don’t have guilt about what I eat because foods are not “good” or “bad” – they are all fuel.
  • I don’t feel deprived because I know no food is “off limits” and I know how to make it work in my food plan.

 

I retired from teaching to become a coach so I could help my tribe – women over 40 – use the same tools I used to get fit and live healthier.

Now, I teach flexible dieting in a way that makes it easy to set up and sustain.

How My Online Coaching Program Is Different

Most online coaches work with clients exclusively through email.  I’ve been coached that way.  Obviously it worked for me, but I thought communication was inefficient.  It could take a couple days to get a question answered.

Some coaches don’t even send personal emails.  You download a program or a phone app and that’s supposed to be enough.  And it might be for some people.

I do things differently.

We will have live conversations.

We will meet weekly for the first four weeks when we are getting started, gathering data, and you’re learning how to follow the program we will create together. 

That’s one difference.

What else is different?

I have the certifications and the personal experience. 

I’ve done it.  I started when I was 47 years old.  (Heading towards 60 now! )

And, as a teacher, I want you to learn how to be successful without me.  

Real transformation takes time, consistency, and patience

While you have the option to work with me longer than a few months,  you shouldn’t have to.  I want you to be able to “graduate” with new skills and new habits in place.

I started using flexible dieting a decade ago and I’m still using it.   It’s an organization strategy, not the typical short-term, restrictive diet you can download online.

You will learn how it works and how to customize it so you can stick with it long enough to reach your goals!

I thought it would be awkward connecting in this way with someone I didn’t know a such a personal topic, but Tammy makes it easy and comfortable!  She makes me feel like I am her one and only client when we are talking and she is helping me learn!

I know you don’t want to be a bodybuilder (and I don’t coach bodybuilders),  but you DO want to learn the science-based nutritional principles athletes use to improve your health without taking it to an extreme.

Coaching with me is NOT a good fit for you if…

You are a competitor, future competitor, or think you might want to compete at some point.  I have competed, but I am not a prep coach.

You don’t want to consistently track everything you eat and drink honestly and accurately for the time we are working together.

 

You’re in a hurry to lose weight by a certain date.

 

You’re already at a healthy weight but want to loose more weight.

 

You want to follow a plant-based, vegetarian, or vegan program Flexible dieting with macros is challenging for women who choose not to eat meat.  Look for a coach that specializes in those programs.

 

 You know how your body works, would like to have a customized program, but are not interested in being coached.  If that applies to you, my online course is a better option.

 

 You have a history of repeated dieting with body fat regain and are not willing to invest the months necessary to reverse the effects of yo-yo dieting.

 

You have been told you may have a disordered eating pattern or any OCD type of behavior, whether you believe that is true or not.   I recommend a nutritional approach called “intuitive eating”.  If you Google that phrase, you’ll get a lot of good information.

 

You believe you would be happier if you were thinner and are willing to do whatever it takes to be a smaller size.

I think the biggest thing Tammy gives me isn’t an eating plan or a lifting plan or even a well-timed kick in the pants when I need it. It’s hope. Hope that it’s not too late for me. Hope that, even if I’m starting at zero, I’ll get results if I work hard. And for the very first time in my life, I believe it.

Level 1: Flexible Diet Coaching

This is a 12-week program with 6 video calls.  We’ll meet on a video call each week for the first 4 weeks.  You’ll have 2 calls to use as needed over the next 8 weeks.  We’ll do email check-ins during the off-weeks.

During this 12-week period, I’ll teach you how to use flexible dieting and help you take control of your nutrition.

Session notes with goals and suggestions emailed to you after each video call.

We’ll create an individualized, macros-based, flexible nutrition program based on your goals, your life, and food preferences.

I’ll help you choose foods & teach you how to use an online food tracker if you’ve never used one before

Email support with replies within 24 hours, Monday-Friday.

Investment  is $3000 USD.

 

At this time, coaching spots are filled.  

Full Programming is an option after Level 1 is finished and the nutrition program is on track.

Level 2: Full Programming

The nutrition program continues and a customized lifting program will be added*.

If lifting is a new activity for you, I strongly advise that you work with a personal trainer in person to learn how to lift before you work with an online coach.
